Channel 4’s First Dates will be returning this evening for series 16. The show has been on air since 2013 and has become a big hit thanks to its often heartwarming moments between couples, something of an antithesis to the more brash dating shows on the box such as Love Island or Naked Attraction. However, the new series brings with it lots of change this year - Express.co.uk takes a look at the show’s shake-up.
The First Dates restaurant was previously located right in the heart of the City of London by St Paul’s Cathedral.
The Paternoster Chop House in Paternoster Square, London was home to the show for the past 15 series but this has now come to an end.
When viewers tune in to the show, it will be set at a different restaurant - The Refinery in Manchester.

Although the restaurant has changed, the new location still has a cosy and intimate feel to it.
There is the bar where prospective singletons will wait for their dates to arrive and have a drink.
While the tables promise some heartfelt chats between singles looking for love.
The change of location was announced back in January 2020 and was part of the First Dates production company Twenty Twenty’s commitment to UK regions.

Also, the move was part of Channel 4’s commitment to its new regional hub in Bristol.
