While it is not clear how they met, as Frank did not perform on Sir Tom’s TV series, they had one particular moment which would suggest, even if they were not close friends, there was a respect which existed between them.
Speaking on Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast, Sir Tom even revealed how Frank was the one man to call him by his full first name: Thomas.

He said: “I’ve got a great picture of Sinatra and myself, when I was at Caesar's Palace, I was coming through the casino because I was going to see Sammy Davis.
“And Sinatra’s sitting at the bar, and he says, ‘Thomas!’
“I think he was the only guy that used to call me Thomas.
“So anyway I thought, ‘Uh oh, it’s Frank,’ so he says, ‘Come on and sit down.’”

Frank seemed to have been in a mischievous mood, telling Tom he would order Sammy to postpone his show for 30 minutes so he could have a conversation with Sir Tom.
Frank then instructed a photographer to capture the moment, which Sir Tom is forever grateful for.
