The ospreys had only just laid their first egg of the season at Brenig Lake in Wales. Now police are searching for someone who "took a chainsaw" to the osprey nest platform beside the Welsh reservoir. The act of mindless vandalism happened just one day after the birds laid their first egg of the season.
The Brenig Osprey Project team discovered this morning that at around 9.30 pm on Friday someone intentionally cut down the osprey platform at the Cerrigydrudion site that is located between Conwy and Denbighshire.
The team discovered the osprey nest floating in the lake on Saturday morning.
On social media, the North Wales Wildlife Trust said: "Brenig Osprey Project partners woke up this morning to the worst possible news.
