The late Princess of Wales’ marriage to Prince Charles ended disastrously over 25 years ago but experts continue to speculate whether the union was forced upon them. Claims the marriage was arranged started after experts noted the couple’s extremely quick courtship - they only went on 12 dates before deciding to get engaged.
In a recently uncovered interview documented in Reader’s Digest in 2001, royal author Ingrid Seward recalled asking Princess Diana whether the marriage was arranged.
Ms Seward said: “I once asked Diana whether her marriage had been arranged, and she told me with some irritation: ‘It was Charles and I who decided on the marriage.’
Diana continued: “Not the Queen. Us. No one else.”
