Prince Harry's rift with his older brother Prince William and other senior royals is understood to be far from healed, as the claims made in the Oprah Winfrey interview continue to run deep. Having already reunited with his family in the UK this year for Prince Philip's funeral, the Duke of Sussex may decide to snub an important family event due to be held in July.
Prince Harry was expected to return for the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue on July 1, something he and William commissioned on the 20th anniversary of their mother's death.
However, a royal expert has said the Duke's return to the UK for the event is now in doubt.
Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words, told the Sun Online: "I personally don't think Meghan will return to the UK.
"And there must now be a serious doubt as to whether Harry will come over for the unveiling of a statue for Princess Diana on what would have been her 60th birthday in July."Insurance Loans Mortgage Attorney Credit Lawyer
Another royal expert said Harry may come up with a "convenient excuse" not to return to the event, he may not want to "face the family" again.
Russell Myers told talkRADIO: "His intention is to come back. One may wonder, if his wife has just had a baby, I'm sure he could jump on a private jet and make a flying visit.
"But, will it be a convenient excuse so he doesn't have to come back and face the family?"
The Duchess of Sussex is currently heavily pregnant with her second child, with the baby due in "the summertime".
Her pregnancy stopped the royal from attending Prince Philip's funeral, as doctors did not give her the go-ahead to make the 5,000 mile trip.
