Co-showrunner Vaun Wilmott has said that “ideas are percolating” for a potential season six.
He told TVLine: “Right now, we are all just enjoying these nine episodes [of season five].
“If the right storyline comes along, I am sure the gang would be back to do it again.”
The show’s creator Paul T Scheuring has said that there is a “a zero percent chance of the show coming back" unless he finds "a top-notch story”.Related articles
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Right now, we don't have that story. That's not to say we can't find it. But we're not going to make the show in perpetuity because we want to. So it may never come back.”
Scheuring hinted that he could hand over the reigns to a new team.
"Maybe somebody else can, or by accident I'll somehow, possibly, dream up another prison escape that's new and fresh, but I would bet against it,” he said.

The season five finale (WARNING – SPOILERS) saw Michael Scofield finally freed after a fairly ludicrous twist involving a hand tattoo and facial recognition software.
Michael had Jacob Ness’s face inked onto his hands, which he then used as a mask to break into Poseidon’s HQ before framing his enemy for Harlan Gaines’ murder.
The final scenes saw Michael reunited with his wife Sara, their son, Michael Jr and his brother Lincoln.
