The category 5 hurricane is slowly making its way cross the Caribbean sea with powerful winds of up to 180mph (289km/h).
At 11am CDT (4pm BST), Hurricane Irma was located just 225 miles (365km) east of Antigua and 230 miles (370km) east of Barbuda, hiding towards the Leeward Islands.
Hurricane Warnings have been placed in the region on the following islands:Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, St. Kitts, and Nevis Saba, St. Eustatius, and Sint Maarten Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy British Virgin Islands U.S. Virgin Islands Puerto Rico, Vieques, and Culebra

A webcam overlooking the southeastern coast of Barnes Bay on the island of Anguilla is already picking up darkening skies and gathering clouds as Hurricane Irma approaches.
