The former Belgian Prime Minister demanded the British Prime Minister address the whole European Parliament to create a "helpful" environment during the Brexit negotiations.
During a press conference broadcasted by EuroparlTV, Mr Verhofstadt said: "I’m very pleased that Mrs May has accepted the invitation of the European Parliament to come.
"Since the beginning of the year, there was a standing invitation to address the European Parliament but my proposal is that, instead of only addressing the Conference of Presidents, she address the full house, the plenary."
