APPLEiOS 11 will launch without one great new feature
iOS 11 is almost here, with the release date today and the big update from Apple expected to drop around 6pm BST.
The iPhone and iPad update will bring with it a number of great new features, including updates to Apple Maps, Siri and Apple Pay.
There will also be a customisable Control Centre as well as a Do Not Disturb feature so notifications are blocked while you are driving.
While iPad users will get one of the biggest new features, a dock that will store all your favourite apps and and improves multitasking.
iPad users will also be able to drag and drop, so you’ll be able to move text, images and files between apps with just a few taps.
But one of the most impressive features that iOS 11 brings will not be available at launch today.
iOS 11 will bring with it a new peer-to-peer payment system, that lets you exchange money through Apple’s Messages app.
However, Apple confirmed in a statement that the feature will not be available in the iOS 11 update today.
It instead will launch later this year in a forthcoming update to iOS 11 and watchOS 4.
Apple said: “Coming this fall with an update to iOS 11 and watchOS 4, Apple Pay users will be able to send and receive money from friends and family quickly, easily and securely.
“Pay and get paid right in Messages, or tell Siri to pay someone, using the credit and debit cards they have in Wallet.
“When users get paid, they receive the money in their new Apple Pay Cash card in Apple Wallet and can use the money instantly.”
