The world’s busiest air route travels from Seoul Gimpo International Airport to Jeju International in South Korea

If you had to hazard a guess as to the world’s busiest flight path, a few major global cities might crop up. 

But if London, Paris or New York were at the top of your list, you’d be sorely mistaken. 

The world’s busiest air route doesn’t lie anywhere near these well travelled destinations. 

Taking the crown is the 280-mile flight from Seoul Gimpo International Airport to Jeju International.

Both located in the same country, the destinations link an extremely well worn air route. 

Over 11 million journeys were made between the two in 2015, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). 

Given that Seoul is the capital of South Korea, this airport is relatively well known worldwide. 

But Jeju is easily less familiar on the global stage.
