The Labour politician said British Labour voters who had supported Brexit want the party to come together to deliver the "best deal" for both the UK and the European Union.
Speaking to the BBC Today Programme, Ms Nandy said: "For my constituents, most of whom voted to leave the EU, the thing they want to see is we respect the outcome of the referendum.
"They gave us an instruction, they would like to see that honoured. And they would also like to see us going to the EU and negotiate the best deal possible and I don’t think there is an aversion to having a close relationship with the EU that benefits us both.
