The T-Charge, also known as the toxin tax or Emissions Surcharge, is a £10 daily fee for vehicles which do not meet emission standards within the congestion charge zone. 

This means more polluting vehicles, typically diesel and petrol vehicles registered before 2006, will have to pay more to travel through central London.

The T-Charge is an additional fee to the congestion charge, which is £11.50 a day if you enter the zone between 7am to 6pm from Monday to Friday. 

Transport for London (TfL) said the T-Charge came into force today (Monday October 23) in order to to help clean up “London's dangerously polluted air”.
