Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine today, the 56-year-old comedian broke his silence about what happened after his leaving speech was cut short on television.
Speaking to stand-in host Christine Lampard, Brian said that word “rant” was used, before explaining: “At the end of the show, there was a whole audience there - it was like a funeral.
“There were people there - typical entertainer, I wanted to make people laugh and diffuse the situation.”Related articles
He continued: “The judges looked so miserable and upset that I said, ‘I want you all to know that I love this man’, talking to Craig [Revel Horwood].
“Darcey [Bussell] was really emotional, she looked really upset and I didn’t know what to say. Just to cheer her up, I said, ‘Darcey, you’re very horny.’ And of course everyone laughed and it was a bit of fun. I said, ‘Shirley [Ballas], you’re a legend’.”
