The British citizens working for the European Commission in Brussels have not been told what will happen post-Brexit and they lose their EU citizenship.
After a speech by the Belgian Prime Minister, the President of the European Commission asked British officials to be given Belgian citizenship rather than being kicked out.
Jean-Claude Juncker said: “Brussels is a warm, welcoming environment and we’re very happy to be here,” the commission president said.
“I’d also like the Belgian authorities to apply the same generosity when it comes to extending Belgian citizenship to the British officials here in Brussels – they deserve it.

“I know that the prime minister is often overflowing with generosity and will hear our wishes.”
Mr Juncker last month said British staff would not be fired once Britain has left the European Union.
Speaking in the European Parliament Nigel Farage provoked fury as he declared that “Belgium is not a nation” during a passionate rant.
