Ross (played by Aidan Turner) and Demelza Polark’s (Eleanor Tomlinson) marriage hasn’t always been smooth sailing, especially after it was revealed he had a secret child and she was unfaithful in season three of Poldark.
Yet, the couple seemed unbreakable and determined to make their relationship work, but, now Aidan has suggested their infidelities could destroy their marriage.
Speaking to the i newspaper about his character’s awful decisions, Aidan said: “There are of course parts of that ego which make him work; he's a gambler by nature, he's on the front foot, he's a hard worker and he takes chances.
“But he wouldn't be an interesting person to play and it wouldn't be very truthful if he just made all the right decisions.”
The 34-year-old actor then went on talk about his character’s relationship with Demelza, describing their marriage as “complex” and “tricky”.
He said: “It's not just a fling that Demelza has with Hugh. It doesn't seem like some sort of revenge attack by her – she and Hugh properly fall for each other.”
“Ross understands what that is. Marriages and relationships are complex and they can be tricky,” he added.
Season three ended with Demelza giving into temptation after Hugh Armitage’s (Josh Whitehouse) persistently pursued her.
Teasing what viewers can expect in season four, Aidan offered: “They might start off a bit rocky and they might try to figure things out.
“It’s a very real relationship, these things can happen
