SNP MPs walked out of the Commons after Speaker John Bercow kicked their Westminster leader out in a heated clash over Brexit.
Mr Gethins became the first SNP politician to take to the Commons floor following the mass SNP walk out and was met with jeering from other members of the House.
Footage from Parliament shows Mr Gethins struggle to start his speech as his fellow MPs loudly mock him.
He then attempted to ease the tension, saying: "As you can tell there is a huge strength of feeling about this issue across the House of Commons."

Mr Gethins then proceeded to launch into a rant to defend the SNP's "clear and coherent" Brexit strategy defending membership of the customs union and the single market.
