The 92-year-old monarch arrived at the Berkshire racecourse by horse and carriage with her son the Duke of York.

She took a moment to look at the ground as her the pale blue feather on her grey hat fluttered in the wind.

The monarch smiled as she inspected the racecourse that was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 possibly to get an idea which horse she will back this afternoon.

As her carraige continued its procession a military band played God Save the Queen and the Ascot crowd cheered for the Queen.
