How did Smoke Dawg die? What was 21-year-old rapper's cause of death?

Fellow Canadian superstar rapper Drake appeared to confirm the news of the young musician’s death on Instagram, saying: “All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating.

“I wish peace would wash over our city.

 “So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out,” he wrote. “Rest up Smoke.”

The Toronto Police told their 321,000 Twitter followers multiple shots were heard and two suspects were seen running north after a shooting at Queen Street and Peter Street, near nightclub Cube.

The force later said one victim was “pronounced deceased in hospital".

They added: "homicide has taken over the investigation.”

Officers also appealed for anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward.

“If you were in the area of the shooting tonight at have any video or information please contact 52 DIVISION 416-808-5200,” they said.

“Any information can help.”
