While Rick (played by Andrew) has maintained a strong leading role in both the show and his on-screen team, his time is coming to an end.
The Walking Dead character saw the emotional death of his son Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs).
Although the loss of his son will certainly take a toll on the protagonist during the ninth season of the show, fans were certainly not expecting to see his exit.
Despite Rick’s fate not yet being announced, fans have begun theorising over whether he will be killed off, or simply leave the group in the search for other ventures.
But off-screen, Carl star Chandler has spoke out about Andrew’s exit, and why he thinks the star has decided to quit the show after almost nine years.
Appearing at the Fandemic Tour Sacramento this weekend, Chandler was asked about Andrew’s exit in a Q&A.
He replied: “I mean, honestly, he’s had to leave his family — he lives in England and we shoot in Georgia.
“He’s had to leave his family every year for weeks and weeks at a time.
“And when we started the show, he just had a new kid — they’re like 10 and seven, I think, right now.
“So the entire time that he’s been on the show, he hasn’t been able to raise his kids full time.
