GETTYThe politician was arrested on Friday
Eren Erdem was arrested on Friday sparking, fears Erdogan is making moves to consolidate his power.
He is charged with aiding the group blamed for the 2016 coup against Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Mr Erdem, 31, tweeted to confirm he had been detained.
He posted on the social media website: “I have been detained.
“I don’t know the reason.
“I was detained by police outside my home.”
The Republican’s People’s Party (CHP) politician lost his parliamentary seat in elections on June 24, before President Erdogan won the presidency again last Sunday.
The five-year term will give the President even greater powers including appointing judges and unelected vice-presidents.
