Nicola Coughlan is set to star alongside actor Ncuti Gatwa as a new companion in the 2024 Doctor Who Christmas special.
The Bridgerton actress, 37, will take take on the huge guest role with Ncuti, 31, but sidekick Millie Gibson and Varada Seethu will not be appearing.
Nicola, who is renowned for staring in Derry Girls, filmed the exciting Christmas Day episode in 2023, with a picture released of her on set in November, although details of her role were not revealed.
A first look image showed Coughlan, 36, dressed in a modern red jacket and matching hat - a far cry from the ostentatious ballgowns she wore as socialite Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton.
Nicola is preparing to make a huge impact on the festive episode, which will see her take a trip through time and space in the TARDIS.
According to The Mirror, Doctor Who's TV producer Russell T Davies said: 'This has been the most brilliant shoot, with Nicola lighting up the set and bringing joy. From Derry, via Bridgerton, to the TARDIS, it’s the trip of a lifetime.

Nicola added: 'I’ve been a fan of Ncuti Gatwa for some time and getting to share the screen with him as the Doctor has been an absolute joy.'
It comes after Nicola confirmed that she and her Bridgerton co-star Luke Newton got 'so comfortable' that they would lounge together naked in between filming sex scenes.
