Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will make his first Test start for England in the showdown with Grand Slam-chasing Ireland on Saturday, while George Ford is set to be retained at fly-half.

Exeter’s 21-year-old, Cardiff-born wing sensation will be named in the Red Rose XV on Thursday, in place of veteran Elliot Daly. His promotion to the first-choice side comes after a try-scoring cameo in the defeat against Scotland at Murrayfield in the last round of the Six Nations.

The inclusion of Feyi-Waboso indicates that head coach Steve Borthwick is willing to take a chance on a rookie X-factor talent as England seek to establish some attacking potency for the encounter with the championship title-holders at Twickenham. 

Feyi-Waboso missed training last week as he had to take a medical exam at Exeter University, but his absence has not harmed
