A popular and generous head boy who aspired to be a stage actor died when he fell 130ft into a quarry at just 17-years-old, an inquest heard. 

Jack Gillespie was returning home from a night out with friends on 9 June last year when he stumbled off a ledge. 

After Jack was reported misssing, police searched for him using a helicopter and found his body in Swanworth Quarry, in Dorset the next day. 

His mother Claire Deamer, wrote to the Daily Mail's Extraordinary Lives page last year describing her youngest as someone who 'loved life, revelling in it and burning the candle at both ends as so many youngsters do.'

When he was buried more than 300 people attended his funeral filling the parish church where the service was held.

The inquest heard Jack enjoyed a few drinks with his friends in Swange, his local town, before heading back to the home of one of the group.
