Sylvia Jeffreys isn't ruling out a return to the Today Show after brutal axing

Sylvia Jeffreys recently signed a new, four-year deal with Channel Nine.

And the 33-year-old journalist revealed on Wednesday that she wouldn't rule out a return to the Today show in the future.

Sylvia, who was sacked as newsreader last year and replaced by Tom Steinfort, told  The Kyle and Jackie O Show that anything can happen in the world of television.

Reflecting on her move from the Today show to A Current Affair, Sylvia said that it was nice not having to wake up at 3:15am every day.

'That was pretty brutal,' she said. 'The later start is a bit of a treat, so I'm sleeping in!' 

When asked if she would ever return to the Today show, Sylvia replied: 'You never say never in television!' 

Sylvia's departure from Today came shortly after co-anchor Karl Stefanovic was also dumped following months of bad ratings and negative headlines.

Meanwhile, Sylvia's husband Peter Stefanovic also lost his job at Nine last year when the network decided not to renew his contract.  

In January, the Today show relaunched with an all-new lineup featuring co-hosts Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight, newsreader Tom Steinfort and entertainment reporter Brooke Boney.
