Katharine McPhee decided to take new husband David Foster's surname because it's 'romantic and traditional'.

The singer, 35, and the record producer, 69, married at the St. Yeghiche Armenian Apostolic Church in Kensington, London, on June 28, and she announced she had officially changed her moniker via social media last week.

Opening up on her decision to become Katharine McPhee Foster, she told Entertainment Tonight: 'I'm a romantic. I've always liked the idea that it's still a traditional thing that exists in our society. I like the idea.'

The former American Idol star admitted she still hasn't got used to her new last name, adding: 'It's a great last name... We've been away since we've been married, so not yet, but I love it. I just love the ring of it, so I'm enjoying it.'

Katharine described their relationship as 'just incredibly easy', explaining: 'We just love being with each other. There's no arguing, no drama. It's just easy. That's how it should be.' 

The couple got married at St. Yeghiche Armenian Apostolic Church in Kensington, London, on June 28. 

A host of famous faces joined the festivities, including tennis star Roger Federer, Katharine's dress designer Zac Posen and TV star Dr. Phil, with the group later celebrating with a reception at Oswald's Club in Mayfair.
