Ariana Grande returned to Manchester for the first time since in two years as she performed at the Pride event at Mayfield Depot on Sunday.

The singer, 26, admitted she was 'nervous' and 'overwhelmed' as she took to the stage in the Northern city for the first time since she held a benefit concert in aide of those who were injured in the bombing at her Manchester concert.

As she was cheered onto the stage by hundreds of fans, Ariana looked emotional as she announced: 'I love Manchester so much, thank you so much for having me back.'

She continued: 'I'm so happy to be here with you – it means the world – so thank you for having me.

'I'm sorry, I'm so nervous, I had so much more to say but I'm like very overwhelmed so thank you. It's so beautiful, I love you so much.'

Ahead of the event, she tweeted: 'on our way to manchester pride. love u so much. can’t wait to give u all our love. you’re my heart in every way. see u soon. [sic]'

The star first returned to Manchester to headline the One Love gig in June 2017, two weeks after 22 people died and hundreds were injured in a suicide attack at her Manchester Arena show.

The gig aimed to raise funds for the families of victims of the terror attack.

Ariana made the brave decision to return to the city for the benefit concert, which raised more than £17 million, and saw the entire audience that attended her previous show in attendance.

The concert saw all manner of stars take to the stage at the Old Trafford cricket ground, including Coldplay, Katy Perry, Liam Gallagher, Justin Bieber and Robbie Williams.

Manchester is no doubt dear to Ariana's heart and last June, she was offered an honorary citizenship of Manchester by the city council.

Hearkening back to her military get-up from her 2009 X Factor performance of Fight For This Love, Cheryl sported a sequinned black leotard with a plunging mesh front for the show designed by Jack Irving.

The Greatest Dancer coach teamed the one-piece with her now-iconic black split trousers, allowing her to recreate her signature squat dance moves.

Pulling her glossy brunette tresses into a high ponytail, Cheryl finished her glamorous stage look with dramatic aqua eye shadow as she strutted across the stage with her backing dancers perfectly in sync.
