The National Board of Review announced the awards in December, with Tarantino winning for his critically-acclaimed Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with Brad Pitt at their table as well, winning Best Supporting Actor. Thurman and Tarantino were first seen together back in December at a special screening of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, a year after Thurman revealed her relationship with Tarantino was strained after an injury on the Kill Bill set. Thurman had issued concerns about driving the car, which had been overhauled from a stick shift to an automatic, because she didn't think it would be safe, but the director insisted.
