She's the Chinese-Australian internet sensation from Sydney who has amassed 14 million subscribers on YouTube.

And on Thursday, it was announced that Wendy 'Wengie' Ayche, 34, had been nominated for YouTuber of the Year at the 12th Annual Shorty Awards.

The ceremony is considered the Oscars of social media and recognises the best content creators across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and more.

The former accountant turned her back on the corporate world to start a lucrative million dollar career sharing her advice on , , life hacks and DIY tutorials on YouTube back in 2010.

Wengie is up against some tough competition in her category, including gurus Jeffree Star and Nikkie Tutorials, transgender philosopher ContraPoints, and stunt performer Mr Beast.

Wengie, who now splits her time between Sydney and Los Angeles, previously told 60 Minutes that she was in the YouTube business for creativity, not for fame.
