Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards took to the stage in black and white leather skintight outfits.

Jade Thirlwall was noticeably absent from the performance as she was forced to self-isolate at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to the stage after the performance, host Chris Ramsay said: I am so happy to finally say welcome to The Search. We are here to find the next big thing in music. 

When the ladies took their seats, Chris added: 'Now obviously Jade is currently isolating at home but we have her here.'

Jade then appeared on screen from home and admitted she was saddened to not be in studio. 

'She said: 'I am doing alright, I'm obviously gutted that I can't be here tonight but I'm happy that I can do it from home.'

The six bands who are in with a chance to win the show and go on tour with told viewers the names they have chosen for their bands during the episode.

The vocal and instrument band opted for the name Since September, the boy band called themselves Priority and the girl vocal group chose the name Nostalia.

The rap and r&b group revealed they had chosen YChange for their name, the mixed group went for Jasper Blue and the girl dance group named themselves Melodaze.

Since September were the first group to take to the stage and performed I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift.

Impressed with the performance, Leigh-Anne said: 'I feel quite emotional watching you. You look and perform like you've been together for years.' 

Jesy added: 'With bands like this normally, there's a frontman but with you boys, you're all frontmen, you all own the stage.' 

The groups are judged on a score out of 100 per cent with each member able to give a maximum socre of 25 per cent.
