Jesy Nelson 'has been warned to limit her time on social media over trolling fears', ahead of her debut solo performance on The Graham Norton Show this week.

According to The Sun, the singer, 30, who will film her performance of Boyz on Thursday evening, has been begged by her team to stay off Instagram and other platforms to avoid trolling she has faced in the wake of her blackfishing scandal.

It was claimed Jesy, who has previously spoken of how vile trolling affected her throughout her career, has only been logging into her social media accounts to share fan videos before logging out.

A source said: 'Jesy never thought things would pan out this way with Boyz but it's made her more determined that ever to get things right and to make her solo career a success.

'The trolling she's faced in the past and its affect on her is no secret so it's not an exaggeration to say she's terrified of putting a foot wrong - sadly the past few weeks have taken their toll.

'Bosses have told Jesy to keep offline as much as possible and she's locked herself away in rehearsals with a tight-knit team.'

Jesy has been at the centre of huge drama of late, after former Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock previously accused her of blackfishing in the music video for Boyz in leaked messages with influencer NoHun.

Jesy's Boyz collaborator Nicki Minaj then branded her former bandmates 'jealous clowns' on a barbed Instagram live.

The source added Jesy is 'aware' of the leaked DMs from Leigh-Anne but wants to keep 'quiet' to avoid a social media spat.

Mailonline has contacted representatives for Jesy Nelson for comment.

This comes as it was claimed Jesy never wanted to be locked in a feud with her former Little Mix bandmates and feels it is 'getting a bit much'.

The singer quit the band last December, saying she found the pressure of being in a girl group difficult to deal with.

A source told MailOnline that Jesy believes she and the band can both exist in the music industry following the blackfishing controversy over her Boyz music video.

The insider said: 'The last thing she wanted was to be embroiled in a Little Mix vs Jesy feud.

'The girls have been through a lot together and she truly believes everyone can co-exist in the industry without the war of words. The fans deserve better. It's all getting a bit much.'

Jesy's Instagram livestream with Nicki descended into chaos when the rapper accused Leigh-Anne of trying to ruin Jesy's new solo career.

Jesy was then said to be 'devastated' Leigh-Anne had 'sparked racial hatred' and a new wave of intense trolling towards her, telling pals she couldn't believe 'someone she once called family could be so cruel.'

However, a source clarified to MailOnline: 'It's not fair to criticise Leigh-Anne over this. She was just upset as were others over blackfishing, and social media is awash with it.'

But, despite a difficult week, Jesy is delighted with the chart performance of her first solo track, which charted at number four, and is 'pouring her heart into writing new music' with the studio becoming a 'sanctuary'.

An insider told MailOnline over the weekend: 'It's been a tough week for Jesy, but a top 5 debut solo single is a massive achievement; there hasn't been any other UK female solo artist to do that this year.
