Dancing On Ice's Brendan Cole has revealed he ended up in A&E after sustaining a head injury in training with his partner Vanessa Bauer.

The former Strictly star, 45, told how he took his mind off what he was doing 'for a second' and ended up getting a concussion after banging his head. 

'I was on the ice and I took my mind off what I was doing for a second,' he told The Star.

'I turned – and that's the last thing I remember. What happened made me realise you have to be 100% focused when you're on the ice,' he admitted.

'The moment you switch off, you make silly mistakes. It has been a great learning curve.'

He continued to explain how he now takes more precautions and recognises when he is 'running out of steam' and losing focus during the tough training sessions.

It comes after earlier this week Brendan sliced open skate partner Vanessa's back during a horrifying training session accident.

Vanessa, 25, showed off a bloody gash on her back in an Instagram video as she said: 'Got Brendan's blade in my back. Dancing On Ice really is a bit dangerous.'

The video then zoomed in on the wound as Brendan said: 'Bad Brendan.'

He later shared the video on Instagram captioning it: 'Bad Bad Bad Sorry' with a crying-face emoji. 

Earlier this month the pair suffered a nasty fall when they were practicing a lift.

Vanessa was seen slipping out of Brendan's grasp before they both slipped onto the ice.

A spokesperson for the show said in a statement in March: 'ITV have taken the decision to move the final of Dancing on Ice forward by one week. The competition’s final will now take place on Sunday 14th March.

'Our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times.   

'Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is our top priority and we look forward to the rest of the series, on air from this Sunday at 6pm.'
