Kenneth Branagh won his first ever Oscar on Sunday and gushed that it was an 'enormous honor for my family' as he was supported by his wife Lindsay Brunnock before heading off for a night of celebrations.

The iconic actor, 61, took home the first Oscar in his stellar career when he scooped the award for Best Original Screenplay for Belfast at the 94th Academy Awards in Hollywood.

His victory, which saw him lead British winners at the ceremony, came after fears that he would miss the event as he was isolating in New York earlier this week after testing positive for Covid-19 the week before.

A spokesperson for the star said that he had first tested positive 'early last week' and he missed the Producers Guild Awards (PGA) event last Saturday and participated virtually instead.

But after testing negative, Kenneth was able to attend the Oscars, which saw his movie Belfast given nods in a whopping seven categories, and graced the red carpet with his glamorous wife Lindsay.

'This is an enormous honor for my family, it's a great tribute to an amazing city and fantastic people,' he added.
