The new Australian Idol panel was revealed last week with former judge Marcia Hines notably missing from the line-up.
The American-born singer, 69, who appeared on the original show's panel from 2003 to 2009, was in talks with Seven to return for the reboot, but they decided to go in another direction, Daily Mail Australia can reveal.
'Marica was in regular contact with Idol producers and there may have been an opportunity for her to be a small part of the production,' her manager confirmed.

Her representative added that Marcia 'long ago accepted that she would not be a part of the judging panel of the new version of Australian Idol'.
'It has never been an expectation that she would be invited back,' they said.
'She has just got on with her working life and wishes the new team well - particularly Kyle, who is a dear and old friend of hers.
