Channel 10's new and improved The Bachelors has continued to tank in the television ratings as it barely beats ABC's repeat of the British comedy quiz show QI.

Raking in only 281,000 metro viewers on Wednesday night, the matchmaking show only pulled in ahead by 37,000.

While the season has proved popular in the 16-39 age demographic, the overall viewership topped off an embarrassing night for the network.

The Project only achieved a maximum of 241,000 metro viewers while its Fire Country premiere aired to a dismal 121,000.

Seven and Nine took out the top spots for the night with Home and Away and A Current Affair boasting 438,000 and 471,000 respectively.

However, ABC had a primetime win with 404,000 viewers for their 7:30 news show and 244,000 for QI.
