Valerie Bertinelli took to social media Tuesday in an emotional video reacting to negative comments on her Instagram page regarding her support for Pride month.

The 63-year-old actress, who revealed her ex-husband used to call her 'fat and lazy,' kicked off a firestorm of controversy when she posted a photo of herself in an Elton John inspired outfit in a frame that read, 'Help End LGBTQ+ Stigma. Let Your Inner Elton Out.'

The campaign is in support of the Elton John Aids Foundation, which has launched The Rocket Fund, a '$125 million campaign to redouble the fight against AIDS everywhere.'

'Who remembers my Elton John boots from One Day at a Time?!' the actress wrote.

'I am so proud to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation and let my #InnerElton out! Want to join me and take a stand against stigma and spread love and compassion for everyone? Snap a photo, and tag @ejaf and #InnerElton. Happy pride month! Xoxo.'

The post was quickly inundated with negative views from disapproving followers who wrote comments such as, 'I wonder if you would feel the same and posting this if your beloved son Wolfie would be gay or wanting to be “trans”.'

Another wrote, 'We are sick of this in our face everyday and the p3do agenda with the pastel flag + leave the kids alone and keep the crap out of schools. We give a month to this crap when we have homeless, border invasion, veterans in need and missing children? Please. Lost all respect for you.'

There were also positive comments, including, 'Thank you for showing love! You’re an amazing person and always trying to make the world a better place by giving love and kindness ❤️.'

After waking up to the negative reactions, Valerie decided to put her daily walk to good use and made an emotional video.

'I just learned a little lesson in hate today. Wow,' she began.

The Hot In Cleveland star said she was, 'Shocked, actually. I can't believe there's that many of you out there that follow me that would be so hateful.'
