Blue Lights returned to screens on Monday night with the second series premiere and viewers have lauded the BBC show as 'sublime'.

The gripping police drama follows three rookie cops in Belfast as they try to keep the peace in the post-Troubles era.

Written by the team behind Novichok drama The Salisbury Poisonings, Blue Lights stars Sherlock actress Siân Brooke as Grace, a single mum and ex-social worker who's decided to switch careers in mid-life to become a probationary cop.

After becoming a sleeper hit last year, fans were eagerly awaiting series two and it seems it did not disappoint, being hailed as 'one of the best police programmes to be produced in a while'.

Taking to social media, viewers praised the second season as 'even better than the first' and admitted they couldn't 'resist a binge watch of the whole series'.
