Jodie Turner-Smith reveals how her MET Gala dress was inspired by her divorce ... trends now

Jodie Turner-Smith opened up about her 'deliberately bridal' look at the 2024 MET Gala earlier on Monday - which referenced to her split from ex-husband Joshua Jackson. 

The Queen & Slim actress, 37 - who stole the spotlight in a custom Burberry gown on the red carpet - took to her main Instagram page on Wednesday to discuss the inspirations behind the dress. 

She notably wore a sleeveless ensemble that contained 150,000 faux pearls as well as a sheer, floral overlay that flowed down into a long train, per Vogue. 

The beauty wore a long, cross-shaped necklace and dazzling bracelet while holding a floral piece in her hand. Jodie additionally debuted short, blonde locks at the star-studded event. 

'This met gala was a very special one for me… my first stepping out on my own,' Turner-Smith penned in the lengthy caption. 

Just two years earlier in 2022, she attended the MET Gala for the first time alongside ex Joshua Jackson. However, she notably filed for divorce from the actor last year in October 2023. 

She continued, 'i had many thoughts after reading the short story that the theme was based on… but what i took away from it was a desire to represent both the power of nature and the delicacy of it.' 

'In nature, death is both an ending *and* a beginning. when you prune away that which is dead, new buds are free to grow.' 

Jodie gave a shout out to designer, Daniel Lee, and wrote, 'fitting, then, that the dress #DanielLee designed for me, full of english flowers, was deliberately bridal. white, representing a rebirth. a clean start.' 

'A recommitment to the most important relationship i will ever have, the relationship from which all others grow: my relationship with myself.' 

The Anne Boleyn star added, 'it is through loving and honouring myself that i am able to love and honour my daughter, and teach her to do the same.' 

She positively expressed, 'i am ever changing, ever growing, always beginning… and FREE, to love better, stronger, more fiercely and fearlessly than i ever have.'

The British-born actress included a variety of photos that had been taken during the special night, including snaps of her posing up a storm on the red carpet.
