Hull teenager Paul Jubb faces a dilemma over how to handle the £45,000 windfall coming his way after being awarded a wildcard into the main draw of Wimbledon.
The talented 19-year-old, champion of America’s college tennis system, has had the plan to finish his education at the University of South Carolina next year, which complicates his guaranteed minimum payday from competing in the first round at SW19.
NCAA rules do not permit students to accept prize-money to cover anything beyond ‘actual and necessary expenses’ for their sports, although it is a clause open to interpretation.

As Jubb is taking six months out of doing his degree in retail management to play on the circuit until the end of the year he will incur plenty of costs.
On Wednesday he admitted he was unsure of what his next step would be as he prepares to step on to by far the biggest stage he has come across in his career.
‘The intention is to finish my degree before turning pro,’ said Jubb, who was brought up by his grandmother after the early death of both his parents.
‘There are certain rules and stuff. It is something I have got to figure out which I haven’t yet.
‘I am just playing right now and whatever happens, happens.’
