Former midfielder Lee Cattermole has signed a one-year contract with Eredivisie club VVV-Venlo.

The midfielder scored 10 goals in 262 appearances for the Black Cats, picking up a remarkable 95 yellow and seven red cards in ten seasons at the Stadium of Light.

The 31-year-old's final season with was tainted by a penalty miss in the Checkatrade Trophy final and defeat in the League One play-off final,
