Rio Ferdinand has come to the defence of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka after their 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth.

The United full-back was at fault as Josh King rolled him before firing past David de Gea to fire in the only goal of the game.

However, Ferdinand insisted that now was not the time to criticise the former Crystal Palace defender and also praised his recovery skills and pace.

'We could sit here and dissect Aaron Wan Bissaka's game and there is some great stuff about his game,' Ferdinand said.

'The recovery tackles he is making, he is making more tackles than anyone in the league, and when he is in a foot race I would back him against anybody.

'But there are elements of his game he has to learn such as patience, timing and positioning at times, but that will come and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bought him knowing all that.

'This isn't the time to sit here and criticise him. That is just one instance in the game that he got it wrong. I could sit here and get a 34-year-old that would make the same mistake.'
