Leicester Tigers have paved the way for the arrival of England's Steve Borthwick by axing their current forwards coach.

Sportsmail understands Mark Bakewell, who only arrived in February 2018 from Bristol, left the club on Monday and the players were informed of his departure later that day.

Former England captain Borthwick has been part of Eddie Jones' coaching staff since 2016 and helped guide his country to the World Cup final in Japan.
