Mick McCarthy will land a £700,000 bonus if Stephen Kenny leads Republic of Ireland to Euro 2020 - from a play-off secured by Martin O’Neill.
Ireland need to get past Slovakia and then the winners of Bosnia and Northern Ireland if they are to make it to next summer’s rearranged finals.
McCarthy was replaced by Kenny on Sunday with the delay to the Euros having brought forward the country’s bizarre succession plan.
