Samoan world-beater Junior Paulo is in trouble of missing a maiden Rugby League World Cup final after an ugly tackle on English big man Tom Burgess - before the Island skipper lit up London with an insane offload in their upset win.

The Parramatta prop starred in a stunning Samoan win, gifting them a chance to secure the World Cup in a blockbuster final against the Kangaroos next week.

Yet the semi was not without drama, as Paulo was sin-binned in the 12th minute for a spear-like tackle on Tom Burgess, which looked horrific on replay.

Paulo was involved in a two-man tackle with fellow forward Royce Hunt, but was put on report for his tipping action which left Burgess on his head.

English fans were left outraged at how referee Gerard Sutton did not give the captain a red card for his well above horizontal flipping.
