Phil Neville has slammed Gabriel Agbonlahor after the former Aston Villa forward claimed the England squad was full of cliques.

Neville made 59 appearances for England between 1996 and 2007, while Agbonlahor won three caps from 2008 to 2009.

Agbonlahor made the Three Lions squad on just five occasions, being part of a group that included several player from England's 'Golden Generation' such as Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

'When I got called up to England squad it was exactly like that,' Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

'You had your Man United players next to each other, your Chelsea players, then Liverpool.

'And then you had your Middlesbrough, West Ham, Villa players - we knew our place as the midtable teams.
