One of the survivors of the shooting at the University of Virginia says he hopes to return to the school's football program once he makes a full recovery, according to his father.

Running back Mike Hollins is in the hospital recovering from a shot to the back by a former teammate after a trip to Washington, D.C.

His father - Mike Hollins Sr. - says his son would be discharged from UVA University Hospital 'at some point this weekend or early next week', Hollins Sr. said via The Athletic. Hollins Sr. added that his son is walking and showering on his own and that doctors expect him to fully recover within two to three months.

'He'll be fully recovered,' Hollins Sr. said. 'He's not going to stop playing football. It's not in him. He's not a quitter.'
