The controversial Mankad dismissal in cricket has caused considerable debate across the sport, but there is no doubt how one Tasmanian batter feels about the tactic.
Jarrod Kaye was dismissed run out at the non-strikers end during the Tasmanian Southern Cricket Association [SCA] first grade grand final between Claremont and New Norfolk on Saturday and blew up in dramatic fashion.
Chasing 263 in the 50 over match, the Claremont batter was on the right track with 43 runs off 55 balls, including three sixes.
However, New Norfolk vice-captain Harry Booth spotted him inching out of his crease and pulled up on his run-up, removing the balls and removing him at the non-strikers end.
After a short conference between the umpires, Kaye was sent packing and he stormed off the field, hurling his helmet and bat toward the boundary as his teammates marched onto the field in protest.
The result proved costly, as New Norfolk completed a 59-run victory to claim the grand final. Booth played a key role in the victory with bat and ball.
'Harry Booth had to stand up, which he did. After winning the SCA 1st Grade player of the year during the week, Harry smacked 63 off 84 balls. He hit 7 fours and 1 six and looked superb, finding the gap with ease,' the club posted.
The SCA and New Newfolk Cricket Club have limited comments on their social media pages after the video of the incident went viral, with
