By signing a two-year contract with the New York Giants this offseason, NFL veteran Jermaine Eluemunor finally fulfilled a dream he has held since his teenage years.
Eluemunor, the London-born offensive lineman gearing up for his eighth NFL season, first fell in love with American football back on October 28, 2007 - when the Giants and the Miami Dolphins faced off in the inaugural International Series regular-season game at Wembley Stadium.
At 17 years of age, he was left in awe of both the sport itself and the team in blue, white and red. 16-and-a-half years later that mesmerized young boy has signed a two-year deal worth $14million - and a guaranteed $6.75m - with that very team.
'That helmet and that uniform just sticks out to me,' Eluemunor said recently, via the New York Post. 'It’s known across the world. For me coming here to this franchise was always a dream.'
Explaining why he is so excited, he added: 'It’s the freakin’ New York Giants.'
