A Welsh side losing in the final of the Scottish Challenge Cup has been mocked by fans of a Saudi Arabian club on social media.

The New Saints (TNS) lost 2-1 in the final of the competition on Sunday to Scottish side Airdrieonians.

Fans of Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal - who boast the likes of Neymar in their team - heralded the victory for the second tier Scottish side, due to a bizarre rivalry with TNS.

Their feud centered around a dispute for the Guinness World Record for most wins in a row.

The Welsh teams laid claim to a record-equalling run with their 27th on the spin against Newtown, only to be later told that it doesn't officially qualify since their fourth round tie with East Fife in October was settled by penalties.
