Jake Clarke-Salter's proposed move from Chelsea to Birmingham was wrecked by Carl Jenkinson's shoulder injury.

Centre-half Clarke-Salter had been lined up for a loan spell at St Andrew's until scans confirmed Jenkinson, on loan from Arsenal, had dislocated his shoulder on his debut and would be ruled out for an extended period.

Blues boss Harry Redknapp turned instead to a £3million swoop for Brentford's Maxime Colin as he decided he had to prioritise another right-back.
