Paul Tierney endured a difficult night on Wednesday but at least he had one moment of reprieve with a Tottenham player.
The referee caused a stir at Wembley during Spurs' 6-1 FA Cup fifth-round replay win over Rochdale as VAR dominated first-half proceedings.
However, after the interval he could allow himself to smile as he shared a joke with Lucas Moura.

It all stemmed after Tierney had awarded Spurs a free-kick on the edge of the Rochdale area
Tierney went to get out his Vanishing Spray to mark the area of where the free-kick should be
However, Moura pointed out that it may not be seen due to the wintry conditions at Wembley
This caused Tierney to smile as he understood his point of view due to the snow at Wembley
6 minutes - Spurs thought they had an early lead when Erik Lamela slotted home from close range but VAR decided otherwise when Fernando Llorente was harshly adjudged to have fouled Harrison McGahey in the build-up and the goal was chalked off.
25 mins - Rochdale's Matt Done hauled down Kieran Trippier on the right-hand side with the linesman originally awarding a free-kick to Spurs on the edge of the area. However, VAR showed that the offence continued into the box and after several minutes of deliberation, referee Paul Tierney changed his decision and awarded a penalty.
28 mins - Son Heung-min stepped up to take the spot-kick and coolly sent Josh Lillis the wrong way. However, after the South Korean stuttered in his run-up, a tactic which has been outlawed, Tierney - without the help of VAR
